tilt/trim on 87 Force only goes up, not down!

I have an 87 Force 85HP. (I have read some of the other posts, please don't rip on me for owning this motor ) My power trim/tilt raises the engine but will not lower it at all. I do hear a faint "click" from the motor but that is it. ANY help would be greatly appreciated.<br /><br />Paul

I havent had much experience with force engines(thank god )But they were made by mercury so I would think the following should help.At the back of the engine there should be 2 relays try swopping them over if the trim now works to lower the engine the problem is a faulty relay.I presume you have checked the wiring & connections....Good luck

Nothing wrong with the motor Just read a little more(well covered sudject) THAT clicking you hear is a bad relay(1of 2) inside of motor cover(near front on a Force,left side) there about 1" square,if swapped will lower and not raise(replace both if one went bad the other is not far behind it) P.S. Don't feel bad ive done it myself
