tilt trim problems

1971 johnson 100 the motor for the pump runs in both directions but it doesnt lift the motor. the motor had sat for a long time and i figure it needs fluid and probably blead how do i go about that and what kind of fluid do you put in those?

Have the engine in its extreme tilt up position, then fill the reservoir to overflowing and replace the fill screw/seal. The unit is self bleeding.<br /><br />Some of the other techs here know of a auto transmission fluid that will work. Hopefully they will advise you on that matter.<br /><br />Otherwise, use the PTT fluid that is available at your local dealership.
