tinting windshield

hi guys . i am restoring a 1986 larson senza . the windshield was broken and i could not find another one . so i had to get one custom made . it cost 500.00 dollars . my wife still made . anyway it is made of lexan and it is clear . it fits the boat good but the other one was tinted and this one just does not look good clear . i was going to get it tinted but the shop says the tint will not stick to lexan . any ideas out there ? .i was thinking of spray painting it flat black . thanks .

then you can see thru it. you might try plastacote spray paint, get a small piece of lexan from home depot and try it.

500 bucks sounds like b.s. and I bet you that much you can get some kind of tint to stick.

Yep on trying the PlasiKote paint for Plastic approach..lots of color options..

Just go to the auto parts store and pick up a roll of window tint. Its only about $30 or so and give it a try. Better than spray painting the window.

be very carfull what you put on lexan we made a sign out of lexan and i had a guy clean it with solvent "like the kind in paint". the lexan became brittle in about 6 mo. im not sure if thats what did it but we only cleaned one of 4 panals and that was the only one that got brittle? had to replace it . i would start over with glass you should be able to get a peice made. good luck

worst case scenario just purchase some lexan that is already tinted and replace what you have now.
