Hello all, I have ran accross an opportunity to purchase a 1996 bayliner jazz for $1000. It has been sitting in a field for a year, not used. I was told it runs good, but family hasn't had time to use it.

It is located 4 hours from my house. Before I go, what should I check, I have never owned a jet boat, only outboards. Is there some tests I can do when I get there? Are parts for this boat still available? Is it really expensive to fix? Does anyone have one and love/hate it?

Thanks alot!

I will find more info soon and report back..

Happy Boating!

John

Is it a Mecury sport jet 90 or sport jet 120 engine?

These have a lot of problems with ignition. Bad stators and switchboxes. Make sure it has spark.

These are fun boats and you will enjoy it. Jets are easy to maintain.

Parts are fairly plentiful. Stators and switchboxes are about 200 bucks each. Other parts are plentiful. Jet drives are fairly bulletproof, only thing that wears out is the wear ring and the impeller.

Ken
