I have a Volvo Penta SX outdrive. I had to replace the top bearing cover, now I have to check the shims. I have a Seloc manuel, but I don"t understand how to figure out what shims I need for the new cover. Can someone help me out.

Don't get all defensive, maybe no one seen your post that had an answer. Personally, I don't remember ever seeing it before today.

See if this helps, it's from the OEM manual.

Re: Top bearing cover shimming

Thanks Don. I thought that was what the manual was saying to do. When I put the .040 shim on there and put the cover on, I did not have any clearance. I added more shims and still did not have any clearance. I put the shims that were under the old cover on, and put it back together. It's in the water now. I think I see the problem I had, the shims I ordered were in MM not inches.
