I'm gonna install a KeelGuard on my 1985 14' McKee.

The McKee is a tri hull boat.

I know that I will definitely install a guard on the center keel.

But I was wondering if I should install a guard on the outter keels as well.

Basically, should I put KeelGuards on all three of the tri hull's keels?

Thanks for the help

My old tri hull the middle keel went further down than the outer ones. Every time i would beach just the middle would hit the beach. Might be worth looking a bit closer at.

Are there any wear patterns on your hull that would indicate if the outer keels are getting scratched up? If not, I'd only do the middle, too.

Agree with Maurader. I had a YarCraft tri-hull, and the central keel really came down a lot further than the sides, so when beaching there was no contact with the outer keels. I had a keelguard on the center keel only.

I've owned quite a few tri-hulls, every single one of them had the center one lower than the other 2. No need to do the outsides.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I contacted KeelGuard and they responded that the outter keels are to steep an angle for the guards to mold to; basically they could peel off because of the angle.

I do have some abrasions and scratches from troller motoring over some oysters in the flats on my outer keels; hence the question; I'm just gonna fill and cover/seal these scratches with Interlux products.

Thanks again.
