I have a 86 alpha drive. I replaced the gimble bearing, Greased the bearing. After a couple of hours i started getting a noise from the gimble area only when i turned hard to port or starboard. Greased the gimble bearing again noise went away. Now the noise is starting to come back again.

I think your greasing the gimbal bearing is masking the real problem. Check the ujoints. Why did you replace the gimbal bearing? Water in the bellows? IF so, that is why the ujoints are bad too.

U-joints seem tight. Plus the noise goes away when greasing the gimble bearing. The gimble bearing was replaced cause i replaced the outer transom plate

What grease are you using?

My guess is when you first grease the ujoints, the grease is insulating the noise transfer thru the gimbal bearing.
You may not be able to feel the problem with the ujoints, but I would bet the cross has grooves worn in the bearing surfaces.

You should not need grease very often, I'd pull the drive and check for water in the bellows.
