I have a 68 mark twain with a 160 hp mercruiser. It has the hydraulic clyinders on each side to lift trim it.
A buddy of mine has a 66 imp oceanic v with an evinrude outdrive. It has a gear box that is used to trim it.
What are the types of drives are these?
I hear the term alpha, bravo, cobra, not sure which types we have. We are both new to boating and just trying find out all we can about what we actually have.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks
Rick

Re: Types of outdrives

It Sounds like you have a Mod.1 or pre-Alpha1... This is a good outdrive with many parts ava.,+ very Up-gradeable......
Your friend on the other hand has an OMC Stringer drive... It was a marginal outdrive when it was New.... Parts are getting harder + harder to find.... OMC is Out of business.....

I'd rather be you, than him......
