Volvo 225e engine 8 cylinder

Is it possible to change the impeller on a volvo 225e engine while the boat is in the water? i somehow beleve once i pull the impeller housing cover off...water will keep coming in until boat and I sink? let me know thanks

Yes. You will not sink. Most of the cooling system is above the water line and the pump is not sucking water with the engine off.

Disconnect the inlet water hose from the pump, stuff a rag in the hose to stop the water till you get the impeller changed.
