volvo engine 225e help with impeller

i have a volvo 225e engine....i am chaging the impeller. a gasket was provided. do i need to put any sealant on the gasket or just as is ? anybody help? please and thanks

ok and what type of sealer should i use? i have permatex 3 on hand, will that work? also i am installing the shift mechanism onto a 275 outdrive as i changed the seal and and oring, can i also use permatex 3 on the oring? and also the 4 bolts that hold on the shift mechanism, the manual doesnt specify how much torque to use? would you know?

I am sure Don S meant to type "No sealer necessary". The thin paper gasket between the raw water pump housing and the cover plate goes on dry.

Typo's strike again, yes, I meant NO sealer necessary. Also edited my original reply.
