thanks for the info Ddupille. i took out the boat this weekend and the whining did go away. we didnt do much low RPM run but later in the day i did hear a very soft whine and I think it was the pump. i did try as you mentioned pulling off the water line and do get a pretty good stream albeit sputtery, flow of water. i believe its ok.
the only other thing i noticed was at one point near home, i ran at WOT just to test it for a but. i got to 5kRPMS but then the RPMS backed down to 4600. i dont think it was the thottle lever moving but it did seem weird. perhaps i still have another blockage? maybe in the low pressure side? i read another post that seemed similar to me at WOT- not getting steady max RPMs. i will test it again this weekend ( if the storm blows by that is). thanks
