volvo penta 4.3 motor oil just came out of the motor

hello every one .. i have a 1996 volvo penta 4.3 in a regal the model is a valanti 185.. i was today at the lake and from no where the boat just kick out the oil from the botton and i dont know why and from where at the botton? any ideas??? pls i need help what to do?

Oil drain plug . . . perhaps . . . came loose and fell out.

Hole in the oil pan or timing cover,loose dip stick tube,leaking oil filter or hose for remote filter.Fill er back up and get down there and look for the leak!

My bet is that at the last oil change the filter gasket stayed in the oil filter casting and when the new filter was installed there would then be two gaskets instead of one. That doesn't work.

Clean up the mess, wipe everything off and put some oil in it, start it up to warm the oil and watch for a leak. Looking for it is the only way you will find it.

well guys. i went down and the oil pant is broken. so i have to take the motor out and replace it. does any one know or have an idea how to take the motor out???

A 'Sky Hook' would come in handy.

You will need a chain hoist and something overhead that can hold lots of weight. Also a backhoe have been used to pull engines.

For a first timer, plan on a few hours to pull the engine.

once again thanks to all the people that have been giving me ideas... ok now that i know I have to take the engine out. i have many cuestions. how many bolts do i need to take to pull the engine out? also can i use any oil pan, i meant for a chevy because i know my boat is a volvo penta 4.3 1996 and my volvo penta repair manual says that is a chevy or ford but for sure i know is a chevy... does any one know a website to get that oil pan or i can go to advance or somethink like that.. so thanks for the help

You are asking questions about how many bolts to take out and in the next sentence you indicate you have a manual. The answer to your questions are in that book.

up date .. i took the motor out, it was an adventure but i did it. now my question is ??? i have a 4.3 volvo penta 1996 as far as I know that motor is a chevy one like one astrovan, so can I use a oil pan for a chevy that fits on my motor o I have to use a diferent one. by the way i know that the oil pan for my boat has the dip stick on the side, but i got one for a chevy with the dip stick on the side it fix but its going to make something on my boat ???

Just reuse the existing dip stick since the bends may be different.
