I need some advice on weather or not to try to water proofing my pressure treated bunks.

Also if water proofing is a good idea, would spar varnish or spar urethane work and which would be better.

I can also get polyester resin, bondo brand, would this be as good as epoxy? I have heard of using very thin epoxy for water proofing wood.

thanks

I wouldn't either.

Also, polyester is worthless without fiberglass.

Any resin you put on with out glass will crack over time. If they are PT, don't worry about waterproofing. Do worry about the PT being in contact with an aluminum hull - you are talking about a fiberglass boat I hope. PT may react with aluminum and corrode it in short order.

If your using PT (acq) you must use approved fasteners, ceramic deck screws or double dipped galvanized lags or bolts. You can put some copper flashing between the PT and your bunk brackets to prevent them from rotting the brackets. Old PT was treated with Chromated Copper Arsenate (arsenic) but the new ones are Alkaline Copper Quat and will corrode standard hardware.
