What should I expect?

1987 21' Regal Majestic Cuddy 4.3 liter OMC V6 w/ 4 bbl Rochester Carb.<br /><br />I had her out Sunday and I was at WOT 4200 RPM and 37 MPH (by GPS). I had about 500 lbs of equipment and passangers and a full tank (50 gal). I am pretty sure the manual said (don't have it in front of me right now) WOT 4600-4800 so I am thinking that I should lower the pitch (now at 15x17) to get WOT RPM up but how will that affect my speed?<br /><br />What should I expect to be top speed?<br />Is her perfomance good..or shold I be looking at tweaking her to get more?<br /><br />Thanks,<br />-JustMrWill

is the bottom clean? is this your normal load? if yes to both and the engine is in good shape a lower pitch prop would make the engine happier. assuming the tach is accurate. top speed should be about the same but with a better hole shot.

Thanks for the reply...started thinking nobody liked me .<br /><br />Trailered boat...bottom clean...prop and outdrive clean....prop has a few dings...bought a 4 fin 15x16...should get better holeshot...but wasn't sure if I should be looking at a 15x15 or sooo...but since just starting out...wanted to make sure I was not prop-sizing based on a poor running engine etc...<br /><br />Thanks again.

OK...hated 4-blade 15x16...too much thrust...shot bow right up...took forever to plane and top end drop to like 25 mph...too much drag..dropped throttle back down and almost threw my passagers through the windshield. Gonna return it and get a 15X15 3 blade I think.<br /><br />Of course..to top it off...lost my cellphone in the lake...guess that new clip I got today didn't work....what to tell the boss (company phone)??

Sorry to hear about your luck with the cell phone.Tell the boss the new clip the "Company bought"wasn't very good.what do you have to lose except another cell phone.
