What year is this motor??

I'm at my wit's end with researching this,it doesn't seem to exist! It's a 28hp Mariner

664 S 07747 Made in Japan

Also has a plate that says

Manufactured in Japan for Mariner International Co
Fond Du Lac,Wis USA

Think the 28hp was only made from 75-79.
If you take the S out of the serial number;going to say a 78.
77's go to 664 07686 the 78's...664 152831.

I have a 30hp Mariner 1987...used hard and still going strong...there really a Yamaha

'77s begin at s/n 664-07686 and continue through 664-152830.
