I've got an 89 Ranger 373v that has funky upright windshields and tried a few universal bass boat covers and always seem to run into issues with water pooling. I've tried using the seats and buckets and PCV props and everytime I think I have it good a good storm comes and pools in an area and stretches the cover. The main areas are right in front of the windshields and right behind them. Is there any secret trick I can use or build. My buddy built an arch for his out of particle board and foam but was hoping there was an easier way.

I leave the fore and aft seats on their pedestals and run a ridge pole between them.
Initially I used a 2 inch ID PVC pipe... but it developed quite a bow from the hot days under the cover. I bought a 1 1/2 inch square steel tube and I have it padded with towels duct taped to the ends.

I use a center pole of a 2X4, to support the cover. I then tie light line side to side from every fitting to create a "tent-type" support for the cover. You sound like you will need to run some light line on the front and rear of your windshield to better support the cover.

That works here in NJ where we do not have much snowfall. Places that have more snow and especially ice will need greater support.

I'm happy with a tarp supported by three 1/2" PVC "hoops" sprung between the sides. I put tee fittings on each end of each hoop with the outer side cut off to stabilize them, along with a light line from hoop to hoop. I can post a picture if there's interest.
