OK, how many of us have to work, either tommorrow or Friday.<br /><br />As for me, tommorrow is a half day, and I'll be getting out of the office at noon.<br /><br />And Friday, they want me to work, but I told them, NO WAY !!<br /><br />The last time I took a day off was August 29th , and I think that I deserve some time to myself.<br /><br />Besides, I got to take my "new kids" skiing, they've never been skiing before, living down south and all.<br /><br />Plus, they will be leaving on Sunday, to return home.<br /><br />They don't want to leave.

Thanks for the offer to call my boss mellowyellow, but that has been taken care of and I WILL be off on Friday.<br /><br />And yes, this is quite possibly the best Christmas I have ever had or could have wished for.<br /><br />This past week has been like a dream.<br /><br />It seems they have only been here for a couple of hours, even though they got here Christmas Eve.

Tomorrow is a half day and so is Friday. The weather is supposed to be in the 50's throughout the week. I'm thinking about unwinterizing the boat for a few hours.. ;)

Had yesterday off, working today and tomorrow, then thursday and friday off. The boss usually gives us a freebie half day on the 31st, but he's off all week, oh what to do :confused:

Life sure is funny mellow.<br /><br />This time, though, it's all been fantastick!<br /><br />So far, this has been the best experience of my life!<br /><br />And just think, a month ago, I was so mortified of the whole situation, and now I have an enlarged family.<br /><br />So far, everything about them has been wonderful.<br /><br />Even the introductions to the family went so well, I can't imagine how to put it all into words.<br /><br />This Christmas has been just like a fairy tale.<br /><br />I still can't comprehend it all, at this time, but I'll manage.<br /><br />Thanks for the warm words mellow, I really appreciate them.<br /><br />May you and your family have the Happiest New Year ever.

Hi Ken, interesting timing on this question, I retired yesterday after working 31 years for the Town of Islip as Town Traffic Engineer. I loved the work and fellow employees but it's time to move on and snow bird it to Florida. Plus I get more time for all my hobbies. :)

Gotta work tomorrow, our year-end inventory, but off the rest of the week.<br /><br />Kenny, glad to hear things are going good for ya. You definetly need to take 'em to the slopes, gotta put some extra spoilin time in for the "new" additions to the family. ;) <br /><br />Seriously though, glad things turned out better than expected, few things do. :)

WOW SlowlySinking,<br /><br />Not only are we neighbors, but we work in the same field.<br /><br />I do traffic engineering for a consultant company in NYC.<br /><br />Do plenty of work for NYSDOT and Suffolk County, but I'm not too sure if we've done any work for the Town of Islip.<br /><br />But seriously, I bet your glad to get out of the T.O.I. ...<br /><br />Congradulations on your retirement!

I have to go in at 4pm on New Years Eve, and work till 4am New Years Day! AND I get to work with a short shift. Come on New Year 5am.

KKC, I work Mon, Tue & Wed. Thursday off, and took Friday off PDO. All the other supervisors have been off for 2 weeks, so I had to work & stay in town in the event of emergencies I could respond asap.<br />So glad to hear your earlier concerns turned into wonderful times! Congrats!<br />SlowlySinking, congratulations on completing a long (and hopefully fullfilling) career! Looking forward to my turn to 'get out' in 5 years or so. When I get to FLA I'll look you & Snapper up!<br />Take care, friends, and have a safe New Years celebration!

I'll be working all the way till the weekend. Thursday will be a short day but its the getting up thats gonna be a pain. <br /><br />Kenny-I hate to ask. I missed the post before. Can you explain the new kids thing? I have seen you refer to them several times but I'm lost, I just don't know anything about them except you had to fly them in at a very high rate.

Been off as of Tuesday last week--<br />My Family did our first overnight at a indoor water park in the Wisconsin Dells. Very family oriented and reasonable. 5 1/4 & 3 1/2 year old wild ones (well, kinda) Kids. Great fun, kids had a ball as well as growing gills ( am visualizing a huge Tootsie Pop type jerk bate to catch the kids and get 'em out of the water).<br /><br />Gotta go back the 2nd for more opportunity and challenges. <br /><br />Happy New Year All,<br />Pat

I'm gonna work...<br /><br />We aren't partiers, so we stay home and light up some fireworks and the semi-auto in the back '40.<br /><br />I like to listen to the many 50, 60 cal and the occasional stick of dynomite light up around here. <br /><br />Makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside!<br /><br />H.
