Why are we still there!!!

It is time to take a serious look at our involvement there. <br /> <br />Every day there are news reports about more deaths. Every night on the TV are photos of death and destruction. Why are we still there? <br /> <br />The land is too large to secure all of it. The bad people causing this damage can roam anywhere, and we can't possibly police the whole place. <br /> <br />We occupied this land, which we had to take by force, but it causes us nothing but trouble. <br /><br />Their government is unstable, and in the process of changing. <br /> <br />Refugees are fleeing by the thousands, driven from their homes. <br /> <br />It will cost billions to rebuild, which we can't afford. Why are we still there? <br /> <br />There are more than 1000 religious sects. <br /> <br />We can't even secure the borders. <br />And to repeat. Every day we hear of more Americans killed in this dangerous land. <br /> <br />It is clear! We must abandon California!

I agree that we should be having a good game plan to get out. <br /><br />You must remember that freedom is not cheap. Think how many die each day on our own soil. Any good sized city has murders in them each day. Then there is the automobile that kills way more daily than in Iraq.<br /><br />I think the loss of life is sad, but there is price to pay for freedom rather its ours or someone else.<br /><br />If the daily loss of life in Iraq was in the thousands ever day, then I would think differently.

I think SS has a good point here. A loss of life is almost always a tragedy, no mater where or how that life is lost. I read a statistic long after the first Gulf war that pointed out that although approx. 125 lives were lost during that campaign, statistically, the soldiers in the first Gulf war experienced fewer casualties than they would have had they just stayed home (auto accidents etc.) I don't pretend to know what the current figures are for the Iraq occupation, but rest assured that most of our information comes from our own media. We have grown accustomed in this country to accepting the self imposed "journalistic integrety" of our media with little or no question. With what seems to me to be an obvious liberal bias on the part of our media (IMHO), I think it may be time to question the validity of this so called journalistic integrity. Whether we consider pulling out of Iraq, or adding more troops, the decision should be based on unbias information.<br />Just my 2 pennies worth.

Hey, like they said on Weekend Update on Saturday Night Live, Schwarzeneger is giving us the best action state in the country. You have floods, fire, typhoons, etc. What other state is so action packed, and has an action hero for a governator. Yeah, I am from Cali, but I have not lived there since 1980. Thank God....It has been good having The Governator, it has provided a lot of material for Jay Leno, Conan O'brien, David Letterman....
