My first post:
So I bought a new Faria Tachometer and tested it and found that it receives power but no signal; so, I jumped the gun and ordered a new rectifier for my Evinrude E70TLCRD (1984). I'm assuming that the rectifier is bad and not sending the signal. I will install rectifier upon arrival, hopefully Tuesday this coming week, and hopefully i have a functioning tachometer.
I plan on installing a cylinder head temp gauge and water pressure gauge. (maybe water temp gauge also)
Now to my question:
I will use the tachometer harness that plugs into remote control/throttle box and connects to tachometer studs.
Now, when I install the cylinder temp gauge, can I run a wire betweem the temp gauge ignition stud and tach ignition stud to power temp gauge; and temp ground stud and tach ground stud to ground temp gauge; thus powering through ignition source and grounding through common ground; of course having the signal stud connected to appropriate signal source at cylinder. Will this schematic correctly power the gauge?
I will do the same for the pressure gauge as well.
Basically I'm using the tach's harness as the ignition/ground source; individual and appropriate signal sources for each gauge.
Will this work?????????
