While getting ready for summer fun I removed my thermostat just to check its condition(recently bought this outboard). The thermostat had a lot of crud accumulated on it. Also some crud buildup inside the cavity that the thermostat fits in. I suspect that there is buildup in places that are not visible as well. This motor has always been run in salt water. Do not know if it was always flushed although prior owner said it was. Is there any procedure that I can follow to help remove this internal buildup? Any type of chemical or cleaner that I can use and how would I use it. Thank you for any suggestions. This is a great forum and it has helped me learn much about outboards!
