Solar Docklite (Video)

Today we'll be performing a basic Solar Dock Lite installation on a wooden dock. These are the tools and additional materials you will need; 2 fasteners per Dock Lite to be installed, Dock edge recommends a #8 or #10 x 1 inch stainless steel wood screw, a screwdriver for that screw or a cordless drill with driver bit for that screw. Before you begin your installation, expose the unit facing the sun for a minimum of a full 8 to 10 hours sunlight exposure. If weather conditions don't permit this, place the product 12 to 14 inches away from a strong spotlight for 2 to 3 hours.
Once the product is charged cover the solar panel completely to ensure it illuminates in the absence of light. If making multiple installations, make sure that all Dock Lites are installed no less than 6 feet apart in the direction of the illumination. This is to ensure that the light emitted from one Dock Lite won't affect the solar sensor of another. Keep in mind that Dock Lites placed in areas with poor sunlight exposure will not emit as intense or as long-lasting light as Dock Lites placed in areas with good sunlight exposure. Place each Dock Lite on a single board. Fasten the Dock Lite to the deck board with a #8 or # 10 x 1 inch wood screw. Allow a minimum of 8 to 10 hours of full sunlight exposure to charge the Dock Lite.
Now let's recap the Dock Lite installation. Plan your Dock Lite placement to be a minimum of 6 feet apart and have good sun exposure. Secure the Dock Lite to the one board on the dock surface, never across two boards. Allow a minimum of 8 to 10 hours of full sunlight exposure to charge the Dock Lite.
