Water Tight Design
A total of 6 seals are used to create the Water Tight Design used in the Spinfisher V. Whether you dunk the reel in the surf, or let it ride in the spray all the way home, you don't have to worry about saltwater getting into the gearbox or drag system.

SlammerLine® Drag System
A truly sealed drag system with a total of 3 HT-100 drag washers (1 on the top of the spool, 2 underneath the spool). All HT-100 washers are greased for smoothness and longevity. Extreme range, endless adjustment, and a large diameter drag knob so you can easily crank down to max drag.

Full Metal Body
A full metal body and sideplate keep precise gear alignment under heavy loads.

Superline SpoolLine„
No backing needed because the rubber gasket keeps superline from slipping.

Line Capacity Rings
Eliminates the question of how much line you have left when fighting a fish. The three lines on the spool flange let you know when you have 1/3rd, 2/3rd or a full spool of line. Also if you respool often these lines find you a benchmark for backing your superlines with monofilament which will help eliminate wasted time and line.

Hi, Mike Rice here, Penn Brand Manager. I want to talk to you today about an extension we're making to the Spinfisher V family of reels. For 2013, Fall 2013, we're going to be bringing a bail less reel to the market, and we're going to be bringing it in a 6500 size. This is what she looks like. Like I said, SFV 6500 BLS stands for bail less.
Everything about this reel and the stock 6500 is the same except for the rotor. Obviously, there is no bail here, but you can see the spool's the same size, body's the same size, handle arm is the same, everything else is the same. It has the same watertight system so we have seals around the gear box where the handle and handle cap come to the body. We have three seals in the drag to protect saltwater - to keep saltwater out of the gear box and the drag system.
You can see underneath, we have - these are basically - they are the same spools between the bail less and the bail version, so the spools wouldn't change. You can see the big sealed slammer drag system under there; from a weight standpoint, 23 ounces; from a drag standpoint, 30 pounds max. It has a 5.6:1 gear ratio. It picks up 39 inches of line per crank. This will be the bail less model available fall 2013. You can check it out at your local retailer.
