The origins go all the way back to the Roaring 20s. In 1925 Walter C. Meloon created Florida Variety Boat Company. It built race boats, powerboats, and even sail boats. Eventually the company switched to only making powerboats. In 1936 it changed its name. Meloon remembered seeing an ad about finding the "correct heel for your shoe" so he thought why not go for the "correct craft for you". So, the name of the company was born. During World War II the U.S. federal government approached the company about making watercrafts to support the war efforts. Near the end, General Dwight D. Eisenhower asked for 400 vessels in 30 days. This was quite the ask, but Meloon and his team worked hard and met the request. The company says the National Geographic called it "A Miracle Production". In the 1990s with watersports becoming more and more popular, the company produced its Air Nautique (the Ski Nautique model began in 1961) which has become one of the most popular ski boats in the industry. It also says it is the first manufacturer to add a tower to the boat to help create that mountain wake enthusiasts desire so much. After the 2009 recession Correct Craft had been so successful that it was able to acquire some very popular marine brands such as Pleasurecraft Engine, Centurion, Sea Ark, and more.
