Hi all, Hope this site is still up and running. My 1990 90hp Force has a hard time starting once it is warm. It can easily take five minutes of cranking (cranks over just fine) before it starts to sputter and then eventually starts (maybe). Once it is running, it also likes to die when in neutral, so once running, I have to quickly put it into gear and give it some throttle, or it will die. Once under power and even wot, it runs great, until it is shut off and then this starts (actually, it doesn't start!!!) all over again. Any Ideas - sounds like starvation, flooding? It never smells like gas though!.

Checked the cylinders, all are firing and the compression is fairly good, all around 118. The thing only does this after running for some time and when in low idle, such as docking or sitting in neutral. Any ideas?

When running hot and in neutral it tends to die! Thats the time to adjust mixture screws so it wont die. Do you have a manuel?

PS your compression is closer to fairly poor than fairly good. It needs some serious decarbonization spray. Very good is 145 psi.
