Re: tilt/trailer trim question

So, basically you only use the trailer trim when you first put the boat in the water to trim down and use the trailer trim to raise up after use?

Re: tilt/trailer trim question

Well actually the trailer button only works up. So you use the trim down button to put her in the water. You use the trim button (up and down) for basically all of your underway adjustments. Trim down to get her onto plane, and then trim up to adjust the ride and get more speed and efficiency.

Use the trailer button whenever you need the drive higher than the trim "range". You should only run above the highest "trim" setting under very rare occasions and preferably not at all. Never above 1200 RPM according to Mercruiser. Best rule is just don't do it, like Bondo said ;)

The trailer button is for trimming up higher than the recommended operating range. This could be to put her on the trailer or even to put her on the beach after you have shut down and are slooooowly coasting to shore.

BTW, what drive do you have? I have been assuming a Mercruiser. My description is a little/lot wrong if this is an old OMC.
