91 force 70hp

I just got a 91 force 70hp that I bought from the iboats classifieds. I just wanted a parts motor for the twins I have now. The motor runs and is in fair shape. Compression is 120 100 120. However this was done cold after it set for quite awhile. Hopefully it will improve warmed up and decarboned. Can I decarbon some while on a hose?<br />The can says to run at 4500 under load. This is not going to happen untill I can mount it up proper on the boat which I don't want to do untill<br />I check out the motor further.<br />The motor's lower unit is missing the gears and the shafts are a bit rusted. The lower unit is a hard one to find on E-BAY! I was told by two sorces that merc used the same unit. However, looking some on E-BAY they apper different. Where would I find a cross reference? I only paided 360$ for the motor and don't want to pay 1000$ for a spare lower unit. Do you know a sorce for this?<br />Thanks Bart

Bart,<br /><br />Look up a member by the name of: dorelse. He has a 90 hp. that he is parting out. The lower units may be the same.

Bart - we should 'talk'. I've got a 1990 90 HP Force with a good lower unit, but bad power head. If the lower unit is something I can take the covers off of easily, and send you some picts of the insides, I'd be happy to do it.

dorelse- i would make sure you dont need or want to keep it first. it would be about that time you sell and yours craps out.<br />if you are going to sell the boat its also a selling plus to have extra parts to go with it.

Thanks for the input guys. Yes I would be interested in parts from your motor. However, the lower unit is probably different. The stator, trigger, cd unit/switch box,coils , voltage regulator ,choke,trim pump and on I might be able to use. What state are you from? you can e-mail me at bandgdavis2000@yahoo.com
