Hello vid2u, I have the same motor. I would check
the choke butterfly valves are they closeing when you push in on the key. If so check the vent on your gas tank might be leaking. Check fuel pump is pressure leaking down after it sets. Just some Ideas.

Re: Chrysler 75 hp won't start

Hi JD, thanks for the help but still won't start!
The engine turns over is getting heaps of fuel, the spark plugs are firing, is there such a thing as timing on a two-stroke? and am I better of trying to start it with the motor in the down position, because in the up position the three carbies are having to harder, maybe?. Also when all is good and running haw many turn should it take to fire?, and where should I have the throttle?, I know this is alot of question, but I'm a curious guy, who is slowing losing hair from this boat

Start the motor in the down position with water to the lower end...in a barrel or muffs. pump bulb till hard...I don't know what control box you have but if there is a curious button next to the throttle handle pull it out that will disengage the shifter and give it some throttle...turn the key and push for choke...should start in a turn or two unless you have a problem somewhere. if you have trouble with that try a little premix gas/oil in a squeeze bottle down the carb throats. Should start with the choke fairly easily tho...just a Thought

:D

Wee! It goes, you won't believe why???
Lack of fuel, I pumped up the fuel primer bubble till it was hard, but it dosen't really get hard? so I just kept pumping. Eventually I saw some fuel dripping from the bottom carbie and thought o.k. that enough lets try and start it. It kicked over once and fired. YAY! Thanks for all you're help guys. Um...p.s. do you really have to run an engine dry?

vid2u; believe it or not but there is somewhat of an art to pumping a bulb. squeeze the bulb completely then let it fill for a couple of seconds then repeat, slowly the bulb will fill. if not you may need a new bulb. lots of people just start squeezing fast without giving it a chance to fill.
secondly just out of curiosity is your throttle a pull type? meaning do you have to pull it out horizontally then push it forward (for warm up) i know my (1985) chrysler was, and i didnt know it for a year after i got the boat.

No, it's just a straight forward throttle, but once again do you think running the motor dry is a good idea, as well, do these motor have such a thing as an air cleaner? ;)

no air cleaner. you dont need to run it dry (gas)unless your not going to use it for a few months if thats the case, do a search at the top of the page for winter storage, all the info is there. ;) straight forward with a warm up lever?

I would like to add,,,, make sure you check to see that you are getting plenty of water coming out of the back of the engine. It is cheap insurance to avoid future problems. I have a 120 chrysler and had never replaced a water impeller before,,, but a half hour later it was done.
