Motor ran good when put away for last year. Put boat in water and buzzer went off within a few minutes. Motor felt hot. Motor still starts good but buzzer still goes off and motor is very hot to touch. Any suggestions what to do or where to start looking. Stored boat and motor in barn.

First place to check is the impeller. Then run water hose up the water tube and see if water comes out the back. Not sure if you have a thermostat. Chances are that your impeller or water pump is fried.

Also if you got it hot...check the headgasket by performing a compression test on the engine.

TMD

Had the impeller changed. Didn't help. There is no thermostat but water was up to the thermostat housing. Has good compression. Any other suggestions????

If the waterpump is actually pumping water, then I would backflush the powerhead. Drop the lower unit, remove thermostat housing, use garden hose to flush, also hose it up the water tube.

Then put it back together AND put a thermostat in it. It needs to be there.
