1985, 85 hp force, no spark to 3rd cylinder

I have a 1985, 85 hp force outboard. I will get spark in the 3rd cylinder for about a 1-2 min, then it quits. The other two cylinders have spark and run great. It will start up, run for a min or two then the 3rd cyl cuts out. Have replaced the plugs, coil, and CD unit.

Then I am afraid you are left with the stator and trigger.<br /><br />TMD

I just went through all of that myself, 6 hours later I had clipped all the trigger wires and connected them with just the exposed wire. What a nightmare finding that problem.

I am also having ignition problems on my 1987 Force 85hp outboard. Never realized it, but its been running on two cylinders for quite some time now.<br /><br />Noticed that I do not have spark on the very top spark plug (is that #1 or #3 cylinder?). I've tried replacing the plugs, coil, and cd unit, and still does not fire up. How difficult is it to work on the stator and/or trigger switch? and what would I have to do to repair what is wrong under the flywheel?<br /><br />I have the service manual and I'm somewhat mechanically inclined, but I'm not too familiar with working on outboards. Any advice would be greatly appreciated before I jump into something way over my head. Also, is there any way to remove the flywheel besides picking up a flywheel puller?
