Need help on motor height.

I need some advice on how high I can mount my motor on the jackplate. I know that you should make the cavitation plate even with the bottom of the boat but I have my first bass boat and what exactly the bottom is isn't clear. I have it even with the actual lowest point of the boat (see picture) but that is a low area with the live well pickups and I think when the boat sits in the water that area is well below the surface and maybe I could raise it higher. I need a little more clearance for the tilt to work is why I am asking (and maybe the extra speed too). Thanks for any help or advice you could offer...

http://f1.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/atlgadawg/lst?.dir=/Chrysler&.view=t

Looks like you may have to make a test run.
It looks good where it is, but a little higher may be good/ok/better.

Re: Need help on motor height.

The transom looks like the one I have on my Sea Ray.

Experimenting lead me to a height a little lower than yours. The bottom line is regarded the prolonged line of the keel, in our cases the lowest of the two.

My setup need a prop with surfacing capabilities as the notch in the transom appears to allow air to get mixed into the water.

If not using this prop I get ventilation on every attempt to trim or turn.

Just my 2 cents.
