What is the purple wire used for in the harness at the dash? Additional guage?

The purple wire was used for charge indication, usually a light in the old days. The older motors used white for their tachometer signal. Bret

If you need further assistance please email me @ forcepower01@yahoo.com. thanks,Bret

Thanks Bret,
My tach circut is white. Would I just wire in a lamp to be lit by the purple lead when the system is charging?

The Purple wire can be used for a volt guage or a light.

If you look back on your engine, there should be a terminal block that tells you what the wires are for.

TMD

Re: 1969 105hp purple wire?

The manual says generator but then (not used). Was just trying to figure out how I can put it to use since I want to get the charging system working.

The manual says to used a self lit test lamp for most of the diagnostics. Can another meter be used? I have multi meters and ohm meters.

Thanks
