Just mounted a used 105HP Chrysler on my boat. Not my car. :)

I hooked water up to the lower end. Then cranked it up -- and it started... but no dice on water coming out of the water vent.

I Even tried putting a barrel of water under the bottom end with the water level above the intake, but it still wouldn't pull it through even at low speed in Forward gear. (I also tried removing the thermostat)

Replace impeller?

David

You possibly burnt out the impeller by trying to run it on the muffs. So after when it was put into water...the pump would not work.

TMD

Sounds like a bad impeller. I have an older 105 (1967) and have no problem removing the old impeller. Just have to find a place to get a new one.

Impeller is good. Still soft and flexable.
I'll be replacing it over the winter once I get a new one.

I think I just need to get the motor in the water to cover the complete lower unit. I don't think it is getting up the the level of the impeller.

We'll see and I'll know by Wed.

One problem I have seen a few folks have is when they put the lower unit back on they miss aline the water tube.
Best of luck

When replacing an impeller on a Chrysler product be sure to by the new plastic insert for the water tube. This makes it quite a bit easier for mating the gearcase to the leg.

And yes the waterpump must be below the water line to prime.

TMD
