hello all, i'm new to boats and i have an 86 force 125HP. the boat runs great and the engine is smooth, but it smokes a decent amount. any suggestions to a newbie on how to lessen the smoke and get it to run cleaner?

What ratio are you mixing oil at. Should be 50 to 1. Check your plugs and see if they are fouling. If you are burning 50 to 1 on oil you may be running too rich. There should be a little black carbon and oil on plugs but not a lot.

The other thing you might want to do is switch to a synthetic TC-W3 outboard oil. You can get it for less than $20 a gallon.

Personnally, I love the smell of 2 stroke oil. It reminds me of my childhood.

Roscoe. That sounds kind of like a line from Apacalypse Now. "There is nothing like the smell of napalm in the morning"

Well it ranks right up there with frying bacon, rising yeasty bread dough, and the smell of a green pine bough smoking over the fire. They all mean I'm a kid on summer vacation, either camping or visiting grandmas house.
