The lower unit was replaced on this last fall. I now have a over heating problem when the engine is running wide open. The pump and impeller are new. My mechanic is stumped. For some reason the engine quits picking up water when running wide open. The lower unit was a re-conditioned one, is it possible it could be the wrong one for this engine. Any ideas please.

Don't foget that at WOT most of your exhaust water and gases are exiting through the motor leg underwater. The impeller is most important at low speed/idle. At higher speeds, the water is being forced into the engine by the forward motion of the boat.
