I have a 1977 chrysler 105 4 cyl. The number 4 piston damaged ie. big scuff in a crescent shaped
section, blew away rings and also left a hole inside adjacent to the exhaust port.
A friend had a 1985 chrysler 3 cyl with the same damage, same piston. Why? Thankyou

Welcome to iboats and I didn't know they had a #4 piston in a 3-cyl. :D

Sorry, I couldn't resist. It's usually a result of overheating or lack of lubrication. But then again there's good old wear and tear. Over time the wrist pin might have wandered offside and caught the exhaust ports. I could be more specific if I could see the piston.
