Chrysler over heating

I have a 76 Chrysler 105 Hp that over heats.With the lower unit off and my garden hose hooked to the water intake tube there is a lot of bach pressure and I can;t get water up to the thermostat housing. I forced a snake up the tube but it only goes about a foot and a half to two feet and stops dead like it was hitting a metal plate. Any ideas? Thanks for the help,Tom

Have you tried a back flush IE flush it from the thermostat side? You might have a big plug of mud/sand in there. Keep trying.
