I have a 1990 90 H/P Force L drive engine, The number 3 cylinder has water in it and when you try to start it with the spark plugs installed, water is pushed out the front of motor around the gasket area. I pulled the plug and it blows out water in the number 3 plug hole. It was over heated for apx. 5-10 minits.( water pump blew out) Is this a gasket problem or something more major?

Look for damage to or evidence of water blowing past the head gasket. Look for a warped head or block surface, need to check with a super straight edge.
Look for damage to the head, broken rings on the pistons, any metal pieces, scoring on cylinder walls, or a hole in the piston.

You shoulkd pick up a Clymer or factory repair manual befor you get into it too far.
