#3 not firing! WTF

I only had #1 firing so I changed out the CDI and took the old CDI and hooked it up to #3 and now I only have 1&2 working but still not #3. I checked all wires and ends (fixed some) Disconnected the black/yellow wires and it ran on 1&2 (would not turn off) which is what I expected. I can't test with anything other than my voltmeter/ohms-meter. Any one have any ideas? Sure could use some other ideas.

do your CDI's have leads for two inputs? if so try the other input lead on the #3 CDI. unless its been swapped before. the 3 and 4 cyl of certain years used the same CDI modules. if one failed we would swap them around but you can only do it once.

My Sealoc manual, on pg.5-70, has a engine wiring diagram for 1988-91 85&90hp ignition system. Coming out the botom of module #3 there are two wires. The left one is Brown/Yellow and the one on the right is Brown/Blue. Do I switch these? Do I switch the ones that come out of the right side along with the Coil conector plug. With the ones that come out the side do I change the White/Green to the White/Orange post and the same for the White/Red switched with the White Yellow? Do I do all the wires? Dam just give me a carberator any ol' time. Thanks

I just had the same problem. Ended up with a new CDI unit but anyways. When I swapped mine, I unplugged the connections, pysically took them off the rack they were in and swapped places, then plugged them back in making the 2nd CDI now the first and vice versa, this still did not fix my prob but it did let me know that the second CDI was bad since the no spark problem moved cylinders on me.

ill try to look it up later tonight. I really cant remember anymore but it was a common practice if a CDI module failed on a 3cyl. the 4th CDI output is just not used on the 3cyl so it just sits there.
