my 120 force starts idles and runs good up to 2000 rpm and then from there to 2500 starts to slow down at full throtle it maxs out at 26 to 2800 rpm. I have checked compression all fuel lines and filters, stator and triggers seem to work with no shorts stator yellow wires produce 12 volts on crank, green white produce 700 volts on crank, all mechanical links intact and work. I had to replace the stator in 1999 with a quicksilver 16 amp red stator has run well until most recent trip. Any suggestions as to the problem

Re: 120 1992 force

While no where near an expert, I remember reading another post similar, and if memory serves the stator has 2 circuits, a low speed and a high speed. Hopefully someone with more knowledge of this will chime in. It could also be a bad coil, easily checked with a ohm meter. Good luck!

Re: 120 1992 force

thanks for the replies. My Clymer has tests for the original stator Mine has been changed to the quicksilver red and it has different wires. does any one know where to find the test for it?

One post noted that a dead battery was bad for stators what is the logic for this if true?

Re: 120 1992 force

I finally found a dealer that would take on the job. He identified the problem as a bad CDI Unit and replaced it. I have also up graded my fuel suppy system replacing all hoses and rebuilt the fuel pump. Hav not been on the water yet but I now hav a one year warenty parts and labor.
