I think a lot of Cobia products are designed to allow only Cobia replacement parts. It's been my experience that only stuff purchased from them will fit properly. Now I think I need a new 2" gas gauge for my 199 17ft, 90hsp Yamaha, powered, Cobia . If I purchase a non Cobia gauge, will the plug match the wire harness .

Re: Gauges For Cobia

Welcome to iboats, I'll guess and say they are Yamaha gauges made for Cobia, the standard Yamaha gauge will likely be the same, just won't look the same as the rest. Take it out and go down to your local Yamaha dealer and compare yours with the original Yamaha gauge.

PS, I have a friend in Naples, fabulous part of the world :)

Re: Gauges For Cobia

Thank's......I've gotten a little bit more info since I posted my question. Broke down and went to the Cobia dealor (big place)...they looked at me sympatheticly and told me that Cobia had been sold a few years ago, 1999 was the year that they introduced a new wiring harness that processed all the info and fed it to the gauges, (any gauge will work in any plug)and that I was S.O.L as far as them getting me the gauge! But...they gave me the name of a company "Medalion Instrumentation Service" out of Michigan ? that might help me. I called and sure enough, they asked for the number off the side of the gauge and said they could fabricate a new one...takes two weeks....and ship it to me.I guess they bought the info and data on all those funky gauges and put it in their product mix...Anyway...Nothin is ever as easy it should be, but a part is on the way...Hope it fits.
