I have a 1978 chrysler 75HP and I put a seal kit in the lower unit. I read the manuel and it tells me to torque the dive shaft gear to the drive shaft to 80lb, But when I do the drive shaft is hard to turn by hand.
Most Tapered bearings have a crush sleeve or spacer between the bearings to set preload but theirs not one their and the book dosen't show one either.

What am I doing wrong??
Thanks

You must have the Clymer manual. Click here to see a thread I posted a couple of years ago. This will answer your question.

Please Note: Error in Clymer Shop Manual for Chrysler

Make sure that you use the search feature on this message board to help you with your questions.
