1990 90hp no l-drive,force outboard,,blueboxes for electrical model
one clylinder. is not firing so i did this......
the blue/orange striped wire from the powerpack is not working it goes to the coil pack towards the very top of motor.. i took the number 2 wire { blue/redstripe ) out the same powerpack and hooked it up to the top coil and it worked the coil..so its not the coils?? also the other powerpack next to it the #3 cly powerpack or bottom cly coil, only has one wire hooked up to the bottom cylinder coil but has another loose wire coming out there 2 blue wires coming out each powerpack and this is a 3 cly..?? i hooked it up to the coils and it didnt work but the blue/red i think does.. any ideas now that i did this test... its not the coils i would think, so does anybody have any suggestions how to check the stator, trigger, and powerpacks some way without a DVA meter i dont have one..... there is no spark to the top clyder and when i try to start it it just backfires once and does start..

please help me i miss the river summer almost over i need to go oncemore

Re: force 90 hp question

Welcome to iboats piece of force.

The same cd boxes were used on 2, 3, 4, and 5 cylinder motors. They all have outputs for 2 cylinders.

If you have 3 leads coming out of the cd units, that have spark, you should be able to make it run.
The trick is getting the trigger to fire the right cd at the right time.

Gonna need a wiring diagram to figure it out.
If you don't already have a repair manual, time to get one. Either buy one or get one from the library. Factory manuals are best. Second best for Force motors is the Clymer repair manual (page 71 and 594).

Simplest fix would be to just swap positions of the 2 cd boxes.

Testing the trigger is a bit tougher without the dva adapter.
But you should be able to check the trigger for output.

Re: force 90 hp question

No, each pack is capable of feeding 2 cylinders. The top powerpack has 2 inputs, and feeds 2 coils.
The bottom one is the same, except that you are only using one of the inputs, and one of the outputs.

The unused output on the second pack will appear to be dead, because there is nothing hooked up to it on the input side.
