After the last crash of this puter of mine, I reloaded Windows XP Home Edition and all seemed Ok. But....when I scroll, like here on the forums, it's not a smooth scroll. It's got a "wave" in it while moving up or down. Before the crash it didn't do this. Anybody got any ID's about whats' going on here? I'm about to sell all this puter stuff and get a months supply of Bud Longnecks. Least I won't be frustrated....welll....at least not until the Bud runs out.

Re: Got Another Puter Question

I know how ya feel OBJ. My last computer was so screwed up!!! Everytime I thought I had it licked something else went wrong. It got to the point of not being able to stand to use the thing. Then I got the ultimate fix. I bought me a new one. :D Its a cheapo but still better than the old and good enough for what I want to do.

Launch explorer

Go "Tools" option on the menu bar

Select "Internet Options"

Click on the "Advanced" tab

About half way down on the list, check the box that says "Use Smooth Scrolling"

That should do it.

OK....tried Ralphs' way. Already checked and I also hit "Restore Defaults". Still wavy.

I'll give lubedudes idea a shot if I can find the darn thing. Would that be somewhere in the list for "Add/Remove Software"?

Re: Got Another Puter Question

OBJ, other than the way scrolling is working does the display look the same? You usually can easily tell when the default driver get loaded because the screen looks like crap.

Are you using a mouse with a wheel? Is the scrolling jerky using the wheel? If so, they other thing to check is your mouse settings

Control Panel -> Mouse -> Wheel - set to 3 lines or less

Re: Got Another Puter Question

Thanks for the help Ralph. It dosen't matter if I use the mouse wheel or the scroll bar. I get the wave. It seems, though, that the smaller windows will scroll smooth. But then it seems they have to catch up...meaning they start slow and then get fast. Screen picture looks fine, crisp and clear.

This is going to drive me to another Bud Longneck.

Ok,

That sounds like your computer is either being slowed down a great bit by some app run wacky or a driver issue

control panel -> display -> Setting -> Advanced -> adpater

What does it say for the adapter type?

Also, have you run windows update yet?

OBJ,
You didn't mention the make of computer you're running , but I'll bet it has a VIA chipset. Did you reload the VIA chipset drivers?? If Windows XP can't ID your video chipset, you'll be running crippled on more than just the video drivers.

If your motherboard is based on the VIA chipset, reinstall the VIA chipset drivers and reboot.

VIA Hyperion Drivers

Re: Got Another Puter Question

OBJ - do you know who makes your video card? Do you have your original paperwork or anything that will tell you what it is?

If so, go to the mfgs web site and download and install the latest driver or try running windows update and see if it identifies updated drivers for your system.
