Adobe help needed

I am trying to get another job. I downloaded the application. I would like to fill it out using my computor since my handwriting stinks. I saved several copies in my pictures but it will not let me alter them. Any idea what I can do?

It depends what sort of a file you're using. Is it a .jpg, a .pdf or what?

Hmm.....PDF's in your pictures..?<br /><br />Do you have adobe 6.0 installed.<br /><br />can you read other pdf's.

Try downloading the file again save it in your documents instead of your pictures.

Yes. I have "other" stuff saved in documents and don't want them seen. I tried to put it there anyhow, still didn't work.

I got ABBYY fine reader with my Epson printer, It allows you to scan a document then save it and edit with your word processor. As far as I'm aware, some pdf documents don't allow you to type stuff into them. You need to make sure that first of all you are using a "typeable" pdf file.<br /><br />If you already have Acrobat Reader on your pc, the chances are that its an old version which will probably not work with the file if it is fairly new. If its not version 6, do the following>><br /><br />Go to http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html <br /><br />Download acrobat reader VERSION 6.<br /><br />Open the file and bob's your uncle.<br /><br />If it turns out not to be a typeable pdf, then you are kinda snookered. You could download a trial version of Adobe Photoshop, which lets you type on pdfs, but some pdfs are locked with a password to prevent you from changing them. The best solution would be to print out the form, scan it back in as a .jpg and then edit it using photoshop or another image program

Adobe Acrobat, not the reader to edit pdf's....<br /><br />Kennith... are you on dsl or modem? I might be able to let you "borrow" my copy of acrobat for the day.

I'm on modem 49.somehting or another usually. It now tellsme to load OCR application from the cd. I try that but then it says a bunch or jibberish and somehting about it 16 bit and that it doesn't support MSDOS and Microsoft windows.

OK Gang- I figure I should let everyone know what ended up happening. I ended up filling out an application at Texas Workforce online. I was able to print it out from there. I did find out what I needed though. My printer does not come with OCR (Optical Charecter Recognition) software. I can buy a cheap version- $49.99. There are also shareware versions that are good for 2 weeks. This is same that Dhud was talking about, the Abbyy reader. The shareware version was 29 mb and on dial up thats close to 3 hours. I figured I would just write for all that trouble. I ended up not having to though,thanks for the help.

Like ndemge says, you can't do much with the free acrobat reader except read pdf files. Gotta pay for the software that lets you do stuff.<br /><br />BUT, theres some freeware available that lets you do alot more with acrobat. I know you can use it to convert different filetypes to pdf files and some other things as well. If interested, check out:<br /><br /> http://www.pdf995.com/
