Since I got my new Chevy van, I have a nice big area to put stuff, but nothing to put it in or on. Does anyone know of any places that specialize in shelves/drawers for service vans? Probably need a headache cage also. Thanks.

WAIT!!!! Ask the boss if he was offered GM Business Choice when he purchased the new van. He might be able to get FREE (yes free) shelves if he talks to the dealer. This is offered by GM under the business choice program.

http://www.gmfleet.com/gmfleetjsp/us/acquiring/incentives/business_choice.jsp?upfitOpt=fleet

There are a lot of upfits for new vans and trucks that are purchased for a business. The term "Fleet" can mean a fleet of one truck or 100!

I work at a chevrolet dealership and arrange for my business customers to get all that they are eligible for.

Bob

Re: Shelving for vans

Couldn't find anything that suited me so I designed and had built parts shelves for my '97 E150. I laid them out on my garage floor with a tape measure, straight edge and protractor.

I then transcribed them onto paper and took it to a local sheetmetal shop. They built them, I had them powder painted and I still use them today. All for about 1K. They fit the van perfectly, give maximum flexibility on storage, leave a vast amount of empty floor space.

If you want a picture of them let me know SS, I also still have the plans althought they would need to me modified to fit a chebee.

BTW, I literally tossed out the factory bins/racks that came with the van. They were worthless for anyone who has to carry large numbers of small items and keep them organized too.

Re: Shelving for vans

Thanks Bob, I'll have the boss check into it.

Boomyal, I did the same for my old E250. I did all the sheetmetal work. Used aluminum and made a big difference on weight. I had to let them go with the old van.

They want me to do it again, but I told them that there was two people at that time working. Now there is just me and there is now way I have the time to do it. I guess they want me to do it on my own time. Problem is, I'm behind further on my home projects than I'm at work.

I would have been happy with a regular truck with a utility bed. At least I would have been able to have an immediate place to put tools and parts.

The air condition is the only thing I like about this van. It being new, I'm having to make sure my hands are spotless, van gets washed regular, and be extra careful of scratching it.
