Outlook Express for Yahoo mail?

I've tried and looked up all sorts of info and I still can't successfully get Outlook Express to retrieve yahoo mail, I keep getting my profile name and get password box that pops up. From all I've seen, you have to upgrade ro Premeir yahoo mail to "fwd" mail? Just curious, Thanks, Heinz

I don't think it's possible for outlook to get your internet email. Your internet email is just that, an internet account. Outlook is looking to get pop3 mail, accessing a server directly not a website.<br /><br />Don't think it's possible bud.

It's $2.00 a month, $20 a year to get the "premium" service to be able to check with outlook. basically allowing Pop3 access.<br /><br />my opinion, it's not worth it, you can get an email only account from a local ISP for the same price and most likely have much less spam.<br /><br />For example, www.primary.net local isp here in st. louis, I pay them $20 a month for different email address myself and my brother's family uses. They are local, don't give out the addresses and have great support. <br /><br />if you want, I could set you up with an email at my current domain if you wanted too, reply with your email addy if you want more info on that one.

It used to be possible until they got the great idea they could make money by having you to pay for the POP3 access. I changed my accounts because of this (to hotmail, which can be accessed by Outlook).

I set this up for my wife primarily for the purpose of not having to change e-mail addresses when and if we change ISPs.<br /><br />You do need to upgrade to the premium service however, but it is an easy decision considering this is my wifes business e-mail and I her unpaid 24- hour tech support. And she is a technophobe.<br /><br />The instructions are avialable on Yahoo as to the POP3 and SMTP servers. Works great.

Don't know about Outlook Express, but there's an open source application out there called YPOPs!.<br /><br />From their site:<br />

YPOPs! is an application that provides POP3 access to Yahoo! Mail. It is available o­n the Windows, Linux, Solaris and Mac platforms.

Thanks, I did download YPOPS but am still getting same error msg in OE, shows yahoo user name and asks for password - I've set up OE acct correctly(outgoing, ingoing smtp, etc)is there something that I need to change in YPOPS? Thanks again, Heinz

I remember having a little trouble setting-up YPOPs!, but that was a couple years ago, and I remember finding the answer somewhere on the site (probably the FAQ's or something, 'cause I wouldn't have spent a lot of time). <br /> I'm actually grateful to you, had it not been for your post, I wouldn't have found that my version is so old.
