My wife's father passed away bout a year half ago and I've been in charge of selling off most of his things. Tractor, hay equipment, cattle such as that to cover debts and loans that he had. I still have a truck that belonged to him, Its an 85 model Toyota 4x4. Its pretty beat up but it runs fair. It needs some work like tires, brakes and several other things. The truck would make a good fixer up for someone that wanted it or it would make an excellent deer camp truck, one that you take to the camp and leave there.

I've put all the time, effort and money into the truck that I'm going to put in it. Like I said the truck cranks, runs, you can drive it, the A/C blows colder than my everyday truck, the interior is in real good shape, its an automatic and the 4x4 works. The truck still has things wrong with it. Yall think running an ad asking 2K with OBO in the ad is a good place to start. The sale will be AS IS WHERE IS NO WARRANTY OF ANY TYPE. If nothing else somebody could buy it for parts.

Yup, EF. That's a good place to start.

My guess is that you will sell it in the first couple of hours.

I know the truck has a good bit of stuff wrong with it and I'm not going to try and hide any of it. I'm going to be up front about everything.

All I can say is when it leaves my place it belongs to who ever is in it or hooked to it.

An automatic, airconditioned, 4WD that runs for $2,000! That shouldn't sit around too long. Around here there are lots of FREE "Auto Locator" type mags. Throw an add in one of them for a week or 2 before spending any additional money. Make sure you give a receipt and state "AS IS - NO WARRANTY expressed or implies" and make sure the purchaser signs it. That should be all you need to cover you. Make sure you keep a copy for yourself.

Things I know are wrong with the truck and have list on seat of truck for who ever wants to look:

Oil seal @ harmonic balancer - fairly easy fix requires removal of radiator to get balancer off.

Passenger side CV joint boot on frontend. - $80 swap on rebuilt shaft.

Cracked exhaust pipe just below manifold flange. - ? cost

All reflector lenses cracked or broken. - ? cost.

Have to pump up brakes to get pedal up and tight.

Needs tires.

Other than those things, which, none are really a high dollar fix but will be a required fix to get an inspection sticker and to make it road worthy.

Sounds like normal things to expect to have to fix. Just disclose what's wrong and people won't have any problems.

I just bought a ford truck, knowing it needed about $300, but knew it upfront.

The list i mentioned above of the things that I know are wrong with it will be on the seat. There may be something I dont know that are wrong with it but thats the chance you take when you buy something used.

I had an '88 2wd Toyota that I sold about 4 years ago with 253,000 miles on it with nothing wrong with it for $1500.

All those things you listed wrong with it would take me about a day to fix on that truck. $2k is a deal...sorry you don't live closer to the left coast...I'd snatch that puppy up quick.
