Is anyone considering buying one of these when the second release occurs in Febrary with a possible price cut.

I almost got one this time, but decided against it because the initial releases of these systems always have bugs and isses that they work out later

Re: XBOX 360

Heck, I finally got around to buying an X-box last year because the price had finally dropped, and I only bought it to play Halo and Halo 2. Not a big gamer, thats money that I can put into my boat, but it is fun on a cold snowy day with nothing better to do....

if you want a good laugh look at them on ebay if the price isn't bad enough look at what these idiots are charging for shipping.

My old Xbox works fine...what the hell do I need a new one for? Buying one now is just silly based on the huge price cuts that happened with the first xbox...

Re: XBOX 360

I see all your points about boating and doing stuff outside.......but that just isnt possible here once winter starts. Ice fishing on occasion yes, but only if the weather is decent. Fact is a gaming system is nice to have when the weather sucks.

ZmOz, I was thinking the same thing. I am almost positive the Feb release will be a price cut. Eventualy the XBox games will be a lot fewer etc as things switch to 360......much like PS1 had happen to it. Thats why I might get one at somepoint down the road.

Yeah those ebay prices are nuts.....shouldve bought one and sold it. Prolly half of those are bogus now, being that so many shipments of the Mountain Dew 360's werent sent out at all much less a week early like promised

Re: XBOX 360

Just my opinion, but expect the price to stay the same until the PS3 comes out next year. I have a modded Xbox (first version) and still have about 50 games to play before I think about another system, let alone 400 smackers for it. Get the premiun pack with hard drive for backwards compatability. While I don't have the winter cold to worry about, there is too many rain days not to have something to do when I'm not out fishing.
Also, there have been a few reported bugs, and oveheating from the power supply, can't put it on carpet or it blocks the cooling ports. Probably a redesign in the next release, but I'll wait until 3 or 4 releases to come out, maybe by then I will have an HD TV to get the most out of it...

Knotaddicted- You may be correct about the price not dropping, however that being said all I have heard at work is the the price will be cut.

Re: XBOX 360

I’d pass on the legacy game consoles. The new generation is designed for the future of audio/video, not just where it’s all at today, but where it is going, higher res sound and video, stuff that isn’t even here yet. I think this 3rd generation of game consoles will be around for a long time, probably longer than the other two generations. I image the next generation of gaming consoles will involve whole new technologies, nothing compatible with what we have today.

i have the orginal hooked up to a HDTV at 480P and it took till now to make games that really pushed its limits

the new games look a littel better at 720P but NOT that much better that i am ready to get a buggy first unit

and if you dont have a HDTV its a compleat waste of money

tommays

Re: XBOX 360

I'm trying to stay a step behind in the video game world. I finally broke down and bought a PS2 on Ebay for $60. I set it up last night with component cables to my HD screen. It's awesome! I will be satisfied for a long time before I go looking at another system.

I did see the Xbox while at Shopko, man that was pretty sweet, but mucho deniro too!

I have the PS2 and the XBOX, next comes the HDTV.......soon hopefully.

That will be the determining factor for the 360 in the long run

Hey Pony, which do you prefer PS2 or XBOX? I never even thought about the Xbox when looking around on Ebay.

Re: XBOX 360

I prefer the XBOX

1. I play most of my games online, PS2's online platform is slower and lags quite a bit. Granted PS2's is free, but because of such its filled with people who are only on it to take advantage of glitches and wreck the fun.

2. I like the hard drive feature, Its nice to play music without using my computer or switching cds......also its kinda sweet to have Metallica play everytime I get a first down in NFL 2K5.

3. Halo, and Halo 2

4. No memory cards to lose and mess around with.

5. No need to purchase a network adapter, but thats sort of negated with the cost of online play.

6. Graphics are better, but I only notice if I hook it up to good TV

I still play PS2, but I use it more as a DVD player than anything else right now

A little off subject, but related to games. Pony, you mentioned duckhunt in another post. I love that game! Do you know if PS2 has a shooter game like that where you aim a gun at the screen?

Re: XBOX 360

http://vgstrategies.about.com/od/genrespecifictips/a/light_gun_basic.htm

BassCat there is a review of PS2's light gun technology.

Here is a site that had some compatible games.
http://store.videogamecentral.com/lightgungames.html

I havent played any of these yet with the laser gun, but if you like guitar you should try "guitar hero" for PS2......we have a demo at work and most of the time the store is closed there is an ongoing competition on that.
