I used a outdrive lift system off an OMC for my blade lift. The motor is intermittent and I'm suspecting that the carbon brushs are worn out. Do these have brushes and can they be replaced? Or should I just be looking at finding a replacement motor? Thanks

Have you seen the Blackline plows? It looks like they use the old sattelite dish actuater arm for lift and it will also exert downpressure.

Re: My Cub Cadozer hydraulic Lift

LOL@ blue paint :D It was already painted blue when I got it. It belonged to a country club before I got it. They rebuilt it and never could get it to quit using oil. I've had it for 10 years now and I think it is finally broke in. It starts at 0*F on the second hit every time. In the last couple of years, it finally has quit drinking its oil.

At first I was going to use a winch for my up/down and the cylinders for the power angle. My friend has that set up on his quad. His only gripe is that he can't apply down force pressure without adding weight to the blade. My set up will raise the front wheels off the ground about 6". Works great for busting up ice off the drive. With the brute force that this tractor can put on the blade, I had to weld the blade angle solid. It kept shearing the pin that locks the blade angle. :(

Re: My Cub Cadozer hydraulic Lift

Hi Bob, The original setup on this tractor was a 12v linear actuator. Some parts for them are still available, but very expensive. The whole actuator from the dealer is over $500! The pinion gear (which I had replaced 2X in 15 years) is $92.

So Blackline doesn't have any new technology there. With all the new stuff using the linear actuators now, the prices maybe coming down some. I'm using one of them on a drag behind mower that I've been working on. It will be used to raise and lower the deck. It came off an old clamshell grill that I scrapped out.

I regret tossing my old one away when I finally abandoned my old 10" dish. There are still hundreds of them set up out there. I know my inlaws still have there old one up on the property too. Just seems like a cheap source of the actuators.

I had an old Cspan dish. The linear act was 110v ac on it. I guess an inverter would remidy that situation.

To answer the question I think you can replace the brushes.

My old dish had an inverter inside the house but the motor on the actuator reeicved a 12V signal and power. The entire system was plugged into 110.

Have you called your local Cub Cadozer Dealer? They might have a replacement for you :)
