Fellow brings in his 9.9 and says it just isn't running right and would I take a look. I said sure. Nothing major. Lose spark plugs and the cam follower is off. Make the adjustments, tighten the plugs and she spins out great on the test wheel.

So he comes and gets the boat. Week later he comes in and says the engine wouldn't start and would like his money back. I offered to look at it and asured him it ran when it left the shop. He was quite adament. Said if we would just refund his money, he's go someplace else.

So, me and Mom said sure.....bill was just about $50 and it didn't seem worth the effort to make the guy any unhapper than he was.

So today, while my head is stuck in the bowels of a 150 Johnny, the gentleman walks in. I thought, "Oh boy...here we go".

First words out of him were "I'd like to apologize to you and your mom and return your fee....the egine does run".

Seems he got to thinking about how confident I had talked to him when he came in and decided to take another look. Somebody kicked the safety switch key off and nobody noticed it. Replaced the key and the engine fired right off.

I told him not to be embarassed cause that's not the first time something like that has happened. He shook my hand and said he'd be back.

Very pleasant experience indeed and to know there are still good honest folks like him in the world....
